Hey all, on an email list I belong to, someone asked about a shortcut to create files or folders in windows.

I'm a bit of a shortcut nut! So I have been googling this question like crazy and have come up farely empty.

I'm hoping that someone more techy than me, may have an idea.

The only shortcut utility I have installed is winkey, which enables me to create shortcuts with the windows key. So for myself, I could create a new folder or possibly file shortcut using that, but I don't know the exicutable to create new folders or files.

With that said, that probably would not help this person on the email list.

I was kind of hoping there was maybe a run command, but so far, I haven't found one.

I have environment variables set up, so I can write quick shortcuts in my run dialogue, but I'm not sure how I'd set that up for new folders. Maybe a command line thing?

Anyway, I look forward to your replies and hopefully some pointers in the right direction!

Thanks,
Polka Dot

PS. What got this guy curious, is someone wrote on the list to hit f2 to rename a file. So, he wondered if there is a shortcut to create a new file or folder. *smile!* And now I'm curious as well!

You know i just right click to do all this. right click and go to new and there should be a bunch of options on that submenu. You can also find this on the file menu in all windows explorer views i believe as well.

Thank you, I know of those options. I also have tweak UI where I can add to the new pull down. That is a cool feature.
